My trip to London- Best Things to Do While In London
Hi loves! Guess where your girl just came back from? That’s right, LONDON. The absolutely incredible and vibrant city took me to my Harry Potter loving days of my childhood and yes, I did visit Platform 9 3/4. Here’s my list of the MUST SEE and do places in the city.
What’s London without trying to catch a glimpse of the queen? Well I was hoping to one day become royalty but I guess Kate and Megan beat me to the punch. I’ll settle for a tour of the palace since William and Harry are officially off the market. I was in awe of the gold statue and was told since the flag was raised the queen was in the building. Nice experience since us Americans don’t have royalty unless you count Queen Kim.
I found the Harrods bear! Can you say Christmas fever? This is a shoppers paradise with every luxury brand you can imagine. There is a cafe and bakery, huge toy section, and five massive floors of absolute heaven. This world famous shopping mall is a must see, even if it’s just to admire the gorgeous architecture of the building and grab a latte.
National History Museum
A lot of people don’t know this about me but I am actually fascinated with history and loved this experience! Entry is free, donations are welcome and appreciated. Walking into the grand entrance and seeing a real life sized dinosaur skeleton completely took my break away. There was also a huge room full of gemstones and geodes. I’m also a fan of rocks!
Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross
Yes, I waited in a 40 minute line for this picture and it was so worth it! My inner child was screaming. I’ve read every book and to this day was waiting for my Hogwarts acceptance letter. I say was* because I actually got one- fully customized at the shop next door along with Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, a Golden Snitch, and a Love Potion (watch out boys). I didn’t get to go to Harry Potter World because the tickets were sold out for 2 months (wow) but this was just as amazing!
Camden Town was probably one of my favorites! Known for its alternative scene, I was surprised to find so many cute pop-up shops that had things I liked. This is also a vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free friendly place which I loved. I was able to enjoy some amazing gluten-free pancakes and a fresh coconut. Don’t be intimidated by the eclectic nature of this place, all are welcome!
Shops shops shops galore! I found that a lot of the vendors here were the same as Camden Town but not quite as big of a food selection. If you’re pressed for time I would do Camden although Covent has more street performers. Just depends on what you’re in the mood for.
Overall London was spectacular. I stayed at the Mondrian Hotel in London which had a beautiful view of the Thames river and a lively bar. Highly recommend. I was nervous since it was my first trip outside of the U.S. (I’ve done a lot of travel here in the states) but it was smooth and spectacular. Cheers to more lovely trips like this one!
