New York City, the city that never sleeps. Yes it is true. At any hour, you can find any food you can imagine and people scurrying all over the streets to get to their destinations. It was freezing and I was clearly not prepared! Make sure you pack your warmest gear, or head to your local store to pick some up before you arrive. I stepped off the plane and felt like I was slapped in the face lol I had to purchase a hat, gloves, and scarf pictured below. I loved walking around NYC. It’s full of energy and life. It’s the kind of place it would be hard to feel lonely in since there are people all around. : ) I did some shows, photoshoots, influencer content for instagram, and overall just enjoyed my time there. My hat and gloves were purchased at a wholesaler store on broadway street. I went on a hunt to find my evening gown earrings and stumbled upon the store. Worth nothing, there are many street vendors who sell these items as well for forgetful tourists like myself. As I was walking around I saw this street vendor, Juan Valdez coffee. It reminded me of my trip to Colombia, and also felt special to me because I’m half Colombian. :) Very cool to see this melting pot of cultures in New York. Stopped by and had some tea at Marvelous by Fred located on 1001 6th Ave, New York, NY 10018. They had thier signature soft meringue which was incredible and melt in your mouth. I had dark chocolate and toffee, both in the mini size to share with my friend. You can probably go with the larger one even if it’s just two because it’s mostly whipped. Beautiful and welcoming atmosphere, and you can watch them make the treats. :) New York is a must visit, with so many beautiful buildings and places to see. Just make sure you are always looking both ways before crossing the street, the bike lanes are unique to the city (we don't have any in Miami).

Today I spent the day updating my website.
I hadn't looked at this in admittedly over a year. As I scrolled past the pages, it felt unauthentic. I modeled this website after one of my favorite Miss Universe’s Olivia Culpo. I think it’s great to get inspiration from other people, but also great to try to form your own path. So with that comes new content, a fresh look, and a resurrection of my blog. For those that have been following me here, or on any of my other platforms for a while now, know my previous blog was about fashion. I absolutely loved it but felt embarrassed that I looked like I was trying too hard to be like everyone else. That’s what society can sometimes do to you- make you feel like you’re not good enough when all you’re doing is having a bit of fun ;) I really don’t know what will come of this blog, or if anyone will ever read it, but I am hoping to post behind the scenes content, exclusive commentary, and just fun things about my life. Welcome, and I’m happy you’re here. :) xoxo Maurah |
